Attractive remuneration package
Rare 18 month part-time contract opportunity (2 days per week)
High profile project with broad exposure to senior stakeholders

For nearly a century now, Qantas has been bringing travellers together with the people they love – both from around Australia and all over the globe. It’s just part of being the Spirit of Australia.

These days, we’re widely regarded as an airline people can count on – both on the ground and in the air. It’s a reputation that hasn’t just seen us become the world’s leading long distance airline – but an Australian icon, too. And we’d love for you to be a part of that.

The Civil Aviation order 48.1 Instrument 2013 requires QantasLink to implement a CASA approved Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) by May 1, 2017 with a submission to CASA for review and approval no later than 31 October 2016. The FRMS must include over 180 elements within 15 components and be documented in a comprehensive FRMS manual.

As such, we are seeking a high performing and experienced Project Manager to develop, document and implement a fit-for-purpose QantasLink specific FRMS program. You will develop and implement FRMS elements not limited to policy, procedures, metrics, training, IT and predictive risk management methods to ensure successful delivery of the project.

Working closely with the Head of Safety, you will ensure that progress against planned timelines is reported accurately and fully, and that key risks and issues are fully understood and addressed. Where necessary you will be expected to challenge team members to ensure transparency and accurate reporting of progress.

Your other core responsibilities will include:

Managing the project to deliver the agreed objective within budget, on time and to the quality required, in terms of content, schedule and budget
Leading regular project management meetings and follow up activities with the relevant stakeholders
Providing advice, guidance and expertise to QantasLink professionals on applying the appropriate project management methodologies in order to deliver on the FRMS deadlines; this may include training colleagues on the application of methodologies
Analysing and highlighting potential concerns / risks from the project, as well as identifying trends and themes in project delivery
Ensuring effective operation of the project governance framework and structure (including decision-making process, steering committees and working groups)
Facilitating the day-to-day management of project progress, resourcing and project level decisions

Requirements:

To be successful you will possess:

Extensive Transformation Project management expertise or experience delivering high-profile complex projects with tight deadlines
Proven project management experience from concept through to implementation and delivery with a track record of success
Previous experience within a safety role preferably within a complex organisation across both a white and blue collar environment
An understanding of FRMS (highly desirable)
A proven ability to understand complex technical requirements to be met in a project environment
A proven ability in translating strategies into detailed plans / business cases
The ability to identify and measure business performance improvement opportunities through robust and logical problem solving, strategic, analytical and financial evaluation skills
Strong influencing & relationship management skills
The ability to deal with ambiguity & remain focussed whilst drawing suitable conclusions
The ability to work in a highly matrixed environment both autonomously and also within a team

We’ve worked hard to create a culture that will challenge and excite you – and give you the support you need to really go places. Here, everyone’s treated with the respect they deserve. And everyone has the potential to make the most of their skills.

Qantas is an Equal Opportunity Employer, so by coming to work for us, you’ll be part of an organisation that encourages diversity, supports charities and environmental initiatives. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander – and people from every other kind of background – to apply.
